BodyANT is an ultra-low power, wireless 3-axes acceleration sensor using the ANT communication protocol. It can be easily used in compination with a growing number of wireless fitness, sports, and health devices which employ the ANT protocol. BodyANT consists of only a few off-shelf components. BodyANT can continuously measure and transmit sensor data for up to 120h (5 days) on a standard CR2032 coin cell battery.
The CRN Toolbox provides a software module BodyAntReader and the ANT library (module AntDevice) to receive the sensor readings.

BodyANT: Miniature wireless sensors for naturalistic monitoring of daily activity Martin Kusserow, Oliver Amft and Gerhard Tröster In: Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Body Area Networks, 2009 [ACM digital library] In this paper we present a novel wireless sensor node design, called BodyANT. BodyANT has a miniature outline of 20x10x3mm and reaches almost 5 days of battery operation. We evaluate the performance of BodyANT in an extensive set of laboratory and naturalistic experiments over multiple days. We present and discuss detailed results on data losses per user activity. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of using BodyANT for long-term activity monitoring and recognition applications. |
