In this thesis, the FingerMouse Algorithm has been implemented in VLSI, and an ASIC has been produced.

The algorithm is real-time foreground segmentation of a scene captured by stereo cameras. Its application is to be integrated in FingerMouse modules: these smart camera systems capture a scene containing a hand of a user, which is then identified in the captured images.

This thesis was conducted at the Integrated Systems Laboratory, in collaboration with the FingerMouse project.
