The annotating of a meeting by recording the activity of the participants gives many advantages over a summary in written form. An occurrence of head turning indicates a shift of attention; head nodding or shaking indicates agreement or disagreement. These informations allow the user to recall a meeting situation and reconstruct which, why and how decisions were taken.

The task of this work was to detect different head movements, e.g. head shaking, head turning to the left or right, with magnetic field sensors. The platform can be connected with the PC through serial connection (RS232) and the signals are processed with Matlab. For the different head movements detections we used a Hidden Markov Model.

Future Work

* Wireless connection of all the boards

* Integration of accelerometers into the platform

* Optimization of the signal processing algorithm
